This little guy (or girl?) must have flown into the shop late yesterday and made it’s way into this car. It was just sitting on the dash when we all got to work this morning. Fairly certain it’s a peregrine falcon. Don’t worry, it has safely departed the building since, and no technicians were harmed in the making of this post.

That is cool! It’s a byurd of prey, because it eats prey.

Which is faster, the AMG or the bird?

After years of cracking dashboards, Mercedes decided to take quality control up a notch.

Missed opportunity. Should have raced.

Here’s one killing a duck with high-speed dive. Apparently they can hit 240 mph.

Right then, we just need to find out how fast an AMG falls at terminal velocity. Anyone willing to donate their baby?

You won’t have any rodent problems around the shop, I see.

Looks like it picked an older one, good choice.

The armrest and dash texture gave it away.

Any more photos? A mascot has to stay for at least 48hrs to be counted as one (well according to the mechanics place I go to) :P

I could be way off since I'm not a Nature Guy, but this looks like a Red-Tail Hawk. I see them in my backyard a lot and they look a lot like this. I think Falcons have pointier heads. At least that's the sciency word for it.

probably the cutest of the birds of prey lol

I could be wrong but I don’t think it’s a hawk. Notice the black markings coming down from its eyes. Seems to be a prominent peregrine feature. Also, crappy photo is crappy, so that doesn’t help.

Nah. I tried but they turned out even worse than this one due to the lighting in the car and the glare on the windshield. I wasn’t about to go near the open window in case he decided to make a break for it or that my eyes liked like a tasty snack.

Yeah, you’re probably right. I can’t keep hawks and falcons straight, they’re similar sizes, especially when perched. Either way, that’s awesome. I love seeing wild raptors up close. They keep my backyard (and house) relatively free of squirrels and chipmunks. That's good work.

Yeah those talons are more intimidating seeing them realtime (like I did when a hawk flew between my cousin & I long time ago & the image is still fresh in my mind. I immediately retracted all my trash talk of birds of prey after that)

I’m pretty sure that it’s a female American Kestrel. She might have been mice hunting when she lost her way inside. Kestrels are small falcons. Nearly all falcon have some kind of stripes or patches near their eyes.
